Well hi!

I’m Afton, I use she/her pronouns, and I’m so happy you’re here.

I was born to help people.

I swear. In my most lost moments, when I threw my hands up losing all faith in if I was doing “the right thing” with my life, I would just huff and say, “I just want to help people”!

And it’s probably my favorite thing about myself. As a Virgo moon (any astrology enthusiasts out there?) I live to be in service. Nothing gives me a better night’s sleep than knowing someone’s life was made just a little bit easier because of something I did or said. I want to leave this world better than I found it, and that looks like so many things. A big one, of course, being photography. If I can help someone see themselves the way I do and the way my camera does, then we’ve all won. My first photography love was headshots - I found so much joy in seeing actors light up at photos of themselves and see their brand and essence reflected back to them in a photo. A headshot is an actor’s calling card after all, so it’s very important! Helping actors feel like themselves instead of a one-dimensional robot in front of the camera was so beautiful to experience.

After headshots, I found my way to lifestyle and portrait, and then eventually Boudoir. Man when I tell you about the time I came off my first boudoir shoot… It was indescribable. My hands were literally buzzing after I put my camera down. There was just nothing like it! The leaps my client made in her courage and confidence over the course of an hour added 5 years to my life, I swear it.

Boudoir, I would come to discover, is all about empowerment. Empowering you to be brave. To rewrite the stories you’ve told yourself. To rewrite the stories others have told you. To show you life is worth living and you’re worth photographing. That’s boudoir, baby.

I’ve had a camera in my hands for 13 years, but there’s so much more to me than my photography!

Firstly, as a Sagittarius sun, the stereotype is true that I’m in love with travelling. My favorite place to be is the airport, no joke. I feel a connection to every place I’ve visited and my travel bucket list is woefully long. I don’t have a favorite place, but I do get emotional thinking about the next time I’ll visit Italy. Meet me there?

I love the planet. Like… loooooooove it. I’m passionate and active in my environmental pursuits and bringing awareness to recycling and composting, specifically. If you’re ever looking for a beach cleanup pal, hit me up! I also have a sweet little community garden where I plant flowers, play with the backyard chickens, and teach yoga to the kids in the community.

My background in trauma-informed practices is very important to me.

I first received trauma-informed training during my certification in Yoga with Y7. Since then, I’ve worked with IDC (Intimacy Directors and Coordinators) and TOM (Trauma of Money) to further my studies. I am very serious about using trauma-informed practices in my photography. And my policy is this: Though I cannot decide for you what feels safe, I can, and do, create a supported space. A space you can feel seen and heard. That is my ultimate mission.

Again, I’m so happy you’re here. I’m looking forward to getting to know you better as well. Please reach out, I’m here for you!
